MAKKAH: Saudi authorities have equipped the Grand Mosque in Makkah with 33,000 luxury carpets during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to the report, The General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque stated that the carpets, crafted in Saudi Arabia, are known for their high quality, durability, and exquisite craftsmanship.
Measuring 1.2 meters by either 4 meters or 3 meters, the carpets are specially used on Fridays, during Ramadan, and in other peak seasons.At 1.6 cm thick, these carpets are designed to withstand heavy foot traffic, ensuring comfort for worshippers.
The authority also reported that during the first half of Ramadan, almost 11 million iftar meals were served to worshippers in the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah as part of its mandate to serve travelers performing the Hajj and Umrah.
